My name is Kelly and I would love to share a bit about myself, why I am passionate about all eight limbs of yoga, and the holistic healing that a regular yoga practice provides.
I discovered a love of exercise in my early years. I always enjoyed feeling healthy and going to the gym. I practiced weightlifting, strength training, kickboxing, running and worked in a fitness studio and tanning studio while attending university. I began my own yoga practice after recovering from years of debilitating & chronic back pain, disc issues, sciatica and osteoarthritis. I utilized countless forms of therapeutic modalities. The further discovery of yoga allowed me to maintain a strong core, improve spinal mobility, release tension, decrease my pain and increase my quality of life. This set me on a new trajectory, and I became a radical researcher in order to further understand my body mechanics and anatomy. The benefits and knowledge I imparted in a short time were not just physical; I could see how much calmer and less anxious that I felt. Yoga became much more than just poses.
As a natural teacher with over 20 years experience, along with my passion for health and wellness yoga fit naturally into my life. I began studying Yoga Anatomy and Physiology, and became a sponge for learning about the body. I received my 200 HR Hatha and Vinyasa certification. As I continued to benefit, the more I wanted to learn and share. I went on to receive my Mindfulness and Meditation, Art of Chanting and 300 HR certifications. As I discovered more about the benefits of stillness and holding poses in Yin yoga, I went on to receive my Yin Yoga certification and Restorative Yoga certification.
As life progressed, I discovered an underlying health condition and autoimmune disorder after I suffered a Stroke in 2023, at the age of 49. As a passionate health 'nut', this was a surprise to me and my family. Although this was a terrifying experience, and it has altered my life trajectory, yoga has been a huge component of my recovery in both physical body, working memory and cognitive function. I am grateful to have a yoga practice to aid in healing in all forms. I believe that for personal wellness and growth, it simply starts with an optimistic, open minded. and determined mindset.
My goal is to facilitate body-mind awareness, physical health and personal empowerment. My classes are consciously created; I provide guided clear instruction and modifications for all levels. I desire for you to develop a holistic love for your own unique body. I believe in the power of connection and the energy in my classes will always be supportive, warm and encouraging. I am most passionate about facilitating a warm and welcoming space that is soothing to the soul. I have an inherent love of learning and self growth. I am an incurable optimist, and in my free time, I can be found spending time with my family, reading, cooking, creating and practicing yoga. I embrace stillness, meditation, ongoing learning and optimism in my daily life.
